Adina Porter stars in "True Blood" on HBO as Lettie Mae Thornton.
Veteran actress Adina Porter has truly made her mark in all areas of entertainment: television, film and the theater. In addition to "True Blood," she has given memorable performances on HBO in "Mind of the Married Man," "Lackawanna Blues" and "Gia."
Porter has recurred on some of television's hottest shows: "Prison Break," "Saving Grace," "NYPD Blue" and "Law & Order." She also worked two full seasons on NBC's "American Dreams."
In the film world, Porter has been seen in "Swoon," "Trust," "The Peacemaker," "Body Shots," "Pipe Dream," and "The Fluffer" to name a few. In 2001, Porter starred on Broadway in "The Women," directed by Scott Elliott. This was her second project with Elliott, having collaborated with him at the Williamstown theater festival in "Ride Down Mt. Morgan." In addition to Elliott, Porter has been fortunate to work with some of the best stage directors: George C. Wolfe, Lisa Peterson, Mark Wing-Davey, Richard Foreman, Michael Cristofer, Michael Grief and Risa Bramon Garcia. Other theater credits include "The Misanthrope," at classic stage company, and numerious plays at the NY Shakespeare Festival, most notably her Obie-winning performance in "Venus," written by Suzan-Lori Parks.
Porter was born and raised in New York City. She attended SUNY Purchase, as well as the school for performing arts. Along with her husband, Madison, Porter enjoys running after her young son. The family splits their time between Los Angeles and New York.
