Alice Krige stars in "Tryant" on FX as Amira.

South African native Alice Krige made her acting debut in "Chariots of Fire" and subsequently starred in numerous mainstream feature films, including "Ghost Story" with Fred Astaire, Melvyn Douglas and Douglas Fairbanks Jr.,"King David," opposite Richard Gere, "Haunted Summer" with Laura Dern, "Barfly" with Mickey Rourke, "See You in the Morning," opposite Jeff Bridges, and "Star Trek: First Contact," alongside Patrick Stewart. Amongst Krige's numerous other features are "Silent Hill," "Captive," "The Little Vampire" and "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" with Nicholas Cage, Alfred Molina and Monica Bellucci.

Krige has also been involved in remarkable art-house films, including the Quay Brothers' "Institute Benjamenta," Guy Maddin's "Twilight of the Ice Nymphs," "Lonely Hearts" with John Travolta and Selma Hayeck, and "Skin," opposite Sam Neill and Sophie Okenado, which opened to critical acclaim at the Toronto Film Festival in 2008 and won multiple awards.  

Krige has acted in many TV films and miniseries in both the USA and the UK and was a leading lady at The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), playing Cordelia in Gambon's "King Lear," Miranda in "The Tempest," and Roxanne in "Cyrano De Bergerac," opposite Sir Derek Jacobi. Krige also performed for the RSC as Cordelia in "Bond's Lear" and Bianca in "The Taming of the Shrew." At the Almeida Theatre, she played the female lead in "Venice Preserved" and at the Arts Theatre West End she starred in "Toyer."

Krige won the Olivier Award and the Plays and Players Award in London's West End for Raina in "Arms and the Man," the Saturn Best Actress Award for Stephen King's "Sleepwalkers" and the Saturn Best Supporting Actress for her performance of the Borg Queen in "Star Trek: First Contact." She also earned an Ace nomination for "The Hidden Room."

In 2004 Krige was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Literature by Rhodes University. She received a Bachelor of Arts and BA Hons., Magna Cum Laude, at Rhodes University and the three-year acting course Diploma from the Central School of Speech and Drama, London.

Krige's first film as a producer was "Jail Caesar," which was filmed in three prisons in three countries: South Africa, Wales and Drumheller. "Shingetsu," directed and co-written by Paul Schoolman was her second feature as a produce
