Amy Hill stars in "Enlightened" on HBO.

Amy Hillis an actor and a writer whose numerous film credits include "Fifty First Kisses," starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, "The Cat in the Hat," starring Mike Myers, "Cheaper by the Dozen," with Steve Martin, "Rising Sun," opposite Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes, "Next Friday," starring Ice Cube, and "Big Fat Liar" with Frankie Muniz. On television she starred in "Hot Properties." as Mary, "All American Girl." as Grandma. and "The Naked Truth." as tabloid photographer Suji. She has also appeared in "The Mentalist," "Castle," "Glee," "Two and a Half Men," "Medium," "Ghost Whisperer," "Grey's Anatomy," "Desperate Housewives," "The Closer," "That's So Raven," "Seinfeld," "Friends" and "Frasier," among many others.

Hill's award-winning one-woman shows include "Tokyo Bound," which was a critic's choice in the Los Angeles Times, was nominated for a Cable ACE Award, was part of the Festival of New Voices at the Public Theater in New York, and received critical acclaim across the country. "Beside Myself" was one of the first solo shows to debut at the Mark Taper Forum after the Los Angeles riots. She received the Dramalogue Award for Best Solo Performance for "Reunion"—the first show to ever immediately sell out the Actors Theater of Louisville's Solo Festival.

In regional theater, Hill was nominated for Best Performance by the Bay Area Critic's Circle for her role in "Dream of a Common Language" at the Berkeley Repertory Theater. She made her Broadway debut as Maria opposite Brian Murray in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," which aired on PBS' "Live from Lincoln Center" series.

Hill's voice has been heard in the animated projects "King of the Hill," "Jackie Chan's Adventures," HBO's "Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child" (for which she also wrote an episode) and the animated feature "Lilo & Stitch."

She has also written for PBS's "Puzzle Place" and was nominated for a regional Emmy as writer/host of a syndicated Asian-American teen talk show, "Get Real."

Born in Deadwood, South Dakota, to a Finnish-American father and a Japanese mother, Hill was raised in Seattle. She went to university and began her entertainment career in Tokyo before moving to San Francisco, where she studied at the American Conservatory Theater while doing improvisation in comedy clubs throughout the city.

She is a single adoptive mother and remains active in the Los Angeles theater community, as well as in the Asian-American community.
