Andy Richter is Conan O'Brien's sidekick on TBS's late-night talk show "Conan."

Andy Richter rose to fame while having the best seat in the house on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" as O'Brien's sidekick, beginning with its premiere on September 13, 1993. Richter and the "Late Night" writing team were nominated yearly for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a comedy or Variety Series, and won the 1997 Writers Guild Award for Best Writing. Richter continued working with O'Brien on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."

As an actor, Richter starred in the Emmy-nominated series "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," and more recently starred in the series "Quintuplets" and "Andy Barker, P.I." He also played a recurring role in "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

Richter has been very active in feature films as well. His many appearances include "Blades of Glory," "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Semi-Pro" and "Elf," all with Will Ferrell; Robert Altman's "Dr. T and the Women"; "My Boss's Daughter," starring Ashton Kutcher; and "Scary Movie 2."

In addition, Richter provides the voice of Mort in Nickelodeon's animated series "The Penguins of Madagascar," reprising his role from the movie box-office hits "Madagascar" and "Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa." He will also be heard in "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted." Richter also voices the character of Ben in Nickelodeon's "The Mighty B!"

Richter attended the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign and Columbia College, where he studied film and video.
