Anthony Edwards is probably best known as Dr. Mark Greene on the hit NBC series "ER," for which he received four Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and won two Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. along with his co-stars seven times for the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, winning in 1998 and 1999. In addition, he directed several episodes of the critically acclaimed series.

Edwards has starred in more than 20 features, including his memorable turn as Goose in Tony Scott's blockbuster "Top Gun," opposite Tom Cruise; as Gilbert Lowell in the classic "Revenge of the Nerds" films; and, in one of his first appearances on the big screen, as a stoner in Amy Heckerling's "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," with Sean Penn. He most recently starred in Rob Reiner's "Flipped," opposite Callan McAuliffe and Rebecca De Mornay, and "Motherhood," opposite Uma Thurman, which premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film festival. Edwars' other recent films include David Fincher's "Zodiac" and "The Forgotten," opposite Julianne Moore.

Other film credits include Joel Schumacher's drama "The Client," based on John Grisham's novel and also starring Susan Sarandon; Danny Huston's whimsical "Mr. North," based on Thornton Wilder's novel, alongside Angelica Huston; and in Rob Reiner's comedy "The Sure Thing," with John Cusack.

Edwards has also produced various projects over the last decade, most recently serving as executive producer on the biopic "Temple Grandin" for HBO, based on the book by the autistic author, directed by Mick Jackson and starring Claire Danes, Julia Ormond and David Strathairn. "Temple Grandin" earned 15 Emmy Award nominations in 2010, including one for Outstanding Movie-of-the-Week. Edwards' other executive producer credits include the Showtime movie "My Louisiana Sky," for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Special; NBC's "Border Line," starring former "ER" co-star Sherry Stringfield; the rockumentary "N.Y.H.C"; and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," in which Edwards also starred. He also served as producer on the comedy "Die, Mommie, Die!" based on the play by Charles Busch, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2003, winning the Special Jury Prize for dramatic performance, as well as earning Grand Jury Prize nominations for its director. It also won the Golden Zenith at the Montreal Film Festival.

Some of Edwards' other television roles include Showtime's "Sexual Healing," for which he received a Best Actor CableACE Award nomination; ABC's GM Playwrights Theatre "Unpublished Letters"; CBS's "In Cold Blood"; and "El Diablo" and "Hometown Boy Makes Good," both for HBO. Edwards also had recurring roles on the ABC series "It Takes Two" and CBS' "Northern Exposure."

Edwards is Chairman of the Board of Directors for Shoe4Africa.org, which empowers women and develops education and unique health initiatives through the sport of running in sub-Saharan Africa.
