Art Gil from "Rods N Wheels," whose full name is Arturo Gil, stars in the Discovery Channel reality series. He is a car mechanic who works for Billy Derian and Steve Reck at Da Rod Shop in Simi Valley, California.

Art Gil has a rare form of dwarfism and stands just 3' 5" tall. He uses his size to his advantage by finishing tight jobs in half the time it takes a regular-sized person. Living so close to Hollywood, Art also pursues his side passion of being an actor when he isn't working on cars.

Gil was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but spent his formative years with family in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He returned to New Orleans as a teenager, fluent in Spanish and English and on his eighteenth birthday began to pursue a career as a disc jockey. While learning the ropes, he secured a job spinning Disco, Jazz, R&B and Rock 'N' Roll at a night club in the world-famous French Quarter. Later he joined WWOZ FM training volunteers and producing Jazz and R&B radio shows. At WRNO FM, he worked as an FM DJ, radio and short wave engineer.

Gil left the "Big Easy" in 1982 and relocated to Los Angeles, California, with plans to pursue a career as an FM Disc Jockey. In the meantime he dabbled in the entertainment business standing in for kids, doing some extra work, and working on student and low-budget films ... and the acting bug bit. In 1985, he received his Screen Actors Guild card while working on Mel Brooks' "Spaceballs."

Gil has been featured in such films as "Monkeybone," "Spaceballs," "The Fantasticks," "Dirty Work," "The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas," "Silent Tongue" and "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey." His TV show appearances include "Charmed," "Ally McBeal," "Just Shoot Me," "Honey I Shrunk the Kids," "The Parkers," "Unhappily Ever After," "The Man Show" and his current show "Estudio 2" on Estrella TV as "Machete."
