Bess Armstrong stars in "House of Lies" on Showtime in the recurring role of Julianne Hotschragar.

Bess Armstrong is perhaps best known for playing the mother of Claire Danes as an angst-ridden teenager in the acclaimed series "My So Called Life." The highly praised show won the Parents Choice Award and the National Television Critics Award for Best Series of the Year.

Armstrong also appeared in the miniseries "Lace" and the television movies "Christmas Every Day," "Mixed Blessings," "Tailhook"

Her many film credits include "Corporate Affairs," opposite Breckin Meyer, "Diamond Men" with Robert Forster and Donnie Wahlberg, John Waters' "Pecker," opposite Edward Furlong and Christina Ricci,"Nothing in Common" for director Garry Marshall and starring Tom Hanks and Jackie Gleason, "Jaws 3D" with Dennis Quaid, "High Road to China" opposite Tom Selleck, and Alan Alda's "The Four Seasons."

She lives in Los Angeles.
