"Breaking Amish" is a reality series on TLC that offers an unprecedented look into a rarely seen world, following five Amish men and women and one Mennonite woman as they make the most important decision of their lives — to join the church and fully embrace the Amish and Mennonite lifestyle, or leave for good and follow their dreams outside of their communities.

In a world where "plain" is considered a compliment, TLC will pull back the curtains to provide a never-before-seen look inside the
lives of young men and women as they, for the first time, trade horse and buggy with taxi cabs to break out from their respective Amish/Mennonite communities in their pursuit to chase big dreams in the Big Apple.

The series will shed light on many "firsts" for the cast members. From flying in a plane and wearing jeans to using a cell phone and electricity, the show will highlight their transition into city culture and the basic amenities that come with it. Unlike Rumspringa, these young men and women get serious about the possibility of committing to careers, life, and options for living indefinitely on the outside. But after these new experiences and the opportunity to live out dreams take flight, will they take advantage of New York and carry out their newfound lives while leaving behind the Amish/Mennonite community and their families forever?

The decision to pack up their bags and leave town does not come without a hefty price. "Breaking Amish" will unveil the disenchantment of family members who are forced to shun their own children, siblings and grandchildren, as they decide to explore a world beyond the limitations of their simple upbringing. Should these "rebellious" Amish/Menonite members decide to forgo Western luxuries and return to their previous lifestyles, they risk the probability of being shunned by their community altogether, including the family, friends and life they once knew so well.

Season 2

The sophomore season, dubbed "Breaking Amish: LA," features a brand new cast setting out to explore a life beyond their Amish and Mennonite homes. Trading in the vast fields and strict rules of their rural communities for the endless beaches and blistering sunshine of Los Angeles, these young men and women come together to determine if they're really ready to embark on a new life among the "English," or if they should return to the faiths and families they've left behind.

This season features brighter skies — and darker secrets — as the cast leave their homes and venture west to live together under one roof, experiencing a lot of "firsts" along the way. Though they share similar backgrounds, they find their lives to be very different, and must not only work to adjust to a new city, but to each other as well. Their entire lives are at stake, as their family, faith, and community may reject them completely based on the decision to venture west.

Season 3

The third season follows a fresh group of young men and women as they leave their conservative, rural communities behind for a chance to live in New York and fully experience English life. The new cast of five heads to Brooklyn, N.Y., to explore life beyond their Amish culture. Throughout their journey, their relationships are tested and life-altering choices must be made. By leaving their communities, they risk changing their lives and ties with their families for good, but they all believe that the chance to live in New York and pursue their dreams is well worth it.

This season presents new and different challenges as the cast adjusts to life in Brooklyn, where the cultures are countless and the temptations are at an all-time high. Using this opportunity to find themselves, the cast navigates through the nuances of the Brooklyn lifestyle and also makes time to visit the famous New York City landmarks to enjoy all the English things that the city has to offer. While they all have similar, conservative backgrounds, they must get used to not only a new city, but also each other and endure growing pains along the way. The trip to Brooklyn chronicles the tough decisions they must make to leave their families and friends behind.
