Brittney Reese is an athlete competing in track and field at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for the USA.

The two-time and reigning world champion is among the gold medal favorites in the long jump. Brittney Reese qualified for the Team by winning the 2012 Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. with a leap of 7.15m/23-5.5.

Reese claimed three major victories in 2011: the World outdoor title, USA outdoor title and Diamond League title. She won her third U.S. outdoor crown with a personal best 7.19ms/23-7¼ at the 2011 USA Outdoor Championships in Eugene. She then won her second consecutive world title on her first and only legal jump of the competition at the 2011 World Outdoor Championships in Daegu. Wins in Rome, Lausanne, Monaco and Zurich helped Reese capture her second Diamond League trophy.

Reese claimed the top spot in the world in women's long jumping in 2009. First winning the national title with a windy 7.09m/23-3.25, Reese went on to win the world title in Berlin with the best jump in the world for that year with a 7.10m/23-3.5 leap. The following year she won the world indoor title in Doha, Qatar and the inaugural addition of the IAAF Diamond League.

Reese made her Olympic debut for the United States in Beijing. Coming out of the qualification round with the furthest jump of the night, Reese finished fifth in the women's long jump final.

At the Tyson Invitational in Arkansas in February, Reese jumped 22-4.25 inches to set a new collegiate record by an American-born athlete. The former mark of 22-3 was set by Carol Lewis, Carl Lewis' sister, in 1985 and equaled by Tianna Madison in 2005. At the SEC Indoor Championships in March, Reese was the high-point scorer in the women's meet, winning the high jump and long jump and finishing runner-up in the triple jump. She also competed in the 60m hurdles but passed in the fourth round due to a conflict in the competition schedule.

Reese had a breakout season in the long jump in 2007, finishing second at the U.S. Outdoor Championships and finishing eighth at the World Outdoor Championships in Osaka. Her runner-up finish at nationals came shortly after a sophomore season for Mississippi that saw her win an NCAA Outdoor championship, NCAA Mideast Regional championship and an SEC Indoor and Outdoor championship.

Reese was an accomplished jumper for Gulfport High in Mississippi. As a senior, she was named the Gatorade Player of the Year. After high school, Reese spent one year at Gulf Coast Community College in Mississippi where she opted to play basketball. She transferred to Ole Miss last year and quickly recorded with personal bests of 6-0 in the high jump, 22-0 1/4 in the long jump and 41-7 3/4 in the triple jump.
