Candice Cuoco in "Project Runway 2015"
Candice Cuoco Project Runway 2015
Candice Marie Cuoco from "Project Runway 2015" is one of the contestants in Season 14 of the Lifetime reality fashion design competition series. She is a 27-year-old designer from Oakland, California. She was raised though in Hayward, California.

Candice Cuoco knew from the very beginning that designing was all she ever wanted to do. She enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising's Fashion Design Program to kickstart her career. She recently launched her own line and has teamed up with a benefactor who enabled her to be able to show her line at London and Paris Fashion Weeks. Candice enjoys working with leather and loves the strength it embodies.

Why will she win? With awards like San Francisco's Best Emerging Designer of the Year in 2013 and nominations for Designer of the Year in 2014, Candice is ready to take on the competition. She is talented and feisty, a combination to make her a worthy opponent in the competition.

Candice's favorite designers are Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, Gautier, Tom Ford, Zac Posen and Sarah Burton, while her style icons are Lady Gaga, Tom Ford, the Olsen Twins, Rihanna, Boy George, and the Queen. Candice's favorite past "Project Runway" designer is Elena Slivnyak.

Here is an interview with Candice:

When did you realize you had designer potential?

I don't believe it was ever one defining moment. I've always loved to create beautiful things. Since the day I was born my mother told me nothing was ever enough — never enough diamonds, never enough glitter or feathers. I wanted make everything look and feel so much more than what it was. I suppose being depressed at every job I landed made me realize that creating was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life and nothing else was going to fill that void and I was right.

Have you won any awards for your designs?

I was honored to win the SF Best Emerging Designer in 2013 and nominated for Designer of the Year in 2014. I love San Francisco and the launching pad it has given my career.

Strengths as a designer?

To feel and interpret everything deeply. Women are emotional creatures and to pay close attention to the meaning behind why I create is my strength. Giving meaning to every piece and letting it stand for what I believe in. Always women with strength. When you step outside your front door, what you are wearing and how you present yourself is your message to the world and I want to be a part of that message.

Weaknesses as a designer?

A wise woman never kisses and tells. I do not look at anything as a weakness; I look at it as an opportunity to learn something new. I am 27 and my journey with learning is far away from being over.

Biggest fear as a designer?

I don't think about my fears. If I did ... if I sat and fed my fears I would never get anywhere. I pay no mind to them therefor I haven't developed a fear in my career. When you know that you have found what you want to do for the rest of your life you understand there will be ups and downs, highs and lows and you accept them. It is much like being in a relationship. Do you run right from the beginning because you know one day you may be let down or hurt by it? No, if it is worth it you power through it and come out a stronger individual because of it. Fear is irrelevant in design — there is only freedom through it.

How did you end up auditioning for "Project Runway"?

I had never auditioned before. So many of my family and very close friends had encouraged me to, but I never had pursued to do so. I received an email asking if I would be interested in auditioning…anyone who knows me will tell you, when opportunity knocks, I answer.

Challenge you wish they'd bring back?

Please bring back the Rainway. I can't fathom what I would do to top the dresses that tied the winning crown, but it is such a beautiful concept and I would love to dive into it.

Challenge you hope they don't?

This is one of those "kiss and don't tell" moments. Going into a competition is asking for a challenge, why run?

What's your take on team challenges?

Learning to work with others is such an important factor in business and life. You cannot make it on your own if you want to grow as a business uncreative director. Working in teams is a part of a real life design house. I understand the stubbornness and compromises one must take on but isn't that in all facets and scenarios in life, from being in friendships to raising children to having lovers? With that also comes the possibility to be ten times the person you are alone. You are only as good as your team.

Do you think you can win "Project Runway"?

Yes, because I believe I can and believing is half the battle.
