Carmine Giovinazzo stars in "CSI: NY" as Danny Messer.

When a serious back injury sidelined Carmine Giovinazzo in college, his dreams of becoming a professional baseball player were put aside and he turned to acting. He appeared in short and independent films before getting his break in the pilot episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

His television credits include guest-starring roles in "The Guardian" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," as well as "UC: Undercover" and "Providence."

Giovinazzo's feature film credits include "The Red Zone," the Sundance Film Festival hit, "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss," "The Big Brass Ring," "Black Hawk Down," "For Love of the Game," "Fallen Arches" and "In Enemy Hands." Recently, he executive produced and starred in the independent film, "Duke," which will be released later this years.

He wrote an episode for "CSI: NY," called "Sanguine Love," which aired during the sixth season. He has been writing a film for an ensemble cast titled "The Brink of Black." He also released an independent record called "Era of the Exposed" with his band Ceesau in 2008.

An actor, writer, musician and painter, Giovinazzo grew up in New York, and currently lives in Los Angeles and New York.
