made it to the semi-finals with actor Ian Ziering, placing fourth. In Season 6, she and Cristián de la Fuente made it to third place, while in Season 5, she and Wayne Newton finished 10th.

In Season 7, Burke was partnered with Maurice Greene and came in 5th place. In Season 8, she teamed up with Gilles Marini and went all the way to the finals where they lost out to Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas. In Season 9, she had to withdraw from the competition before it even began because her dance partner Tom DeLay developed stress fractures in both feet. In Season 10, she and partner Chad Ochocinco finished in 4th place, while in Season 11, she came in 6th place with Rick Fox. She and WWE star Chris Jericho finished in 7th place in Season 12. The next season, she and reality TV star Rob Kardashian were the runner-ups, while she teamed with telenovela star William Levy in Season 14 for a third place finish. For Season 15, she was partnered with Emmitt Smith, who was the winner of Season 3. They finished in 4th place.

Growing up in San Francisco, California, Burke came from a family who all loved to dance. At four years old, she began taking ballet lessons and performed throughout the Bay area until she was ten. It was at that time that she discovered that ballroom, "wasn't just for old people" and decided to change her focus. She hung up her ballet shoes and began training in both standard and Latin. By the age of 13, she was traveling and competing throughout the world, later moving on to win several championships.

In the spring of 2008 she opened her first dance studio, the highly successful Cheryl Burke Dance, in San Francisco.
