"Child Genius" (TV show) is a reality competition series on Lifetime centering on some of America's most extraordinary and gifted children and their families as they prepare for a national intelligence competition.

Move over spelling bees! In cooperation with American Mensa, the competition takes place over eight weeks and tests the nation's brightest young minds on their knowledge of Math, Spelling, Geography, Memory, the Human Body, U.S. Presidents, Vocabulary, Current Events, Zoology, Astronomy and Space, Inventions, Literature and the Arts, Earth Science and Logic.

Hosted by Leland Melvin, former NASA astronaut, the show features twenty boys and girls ages eight to twelve from across the country, all competing for a $100,000 college fund. Only one phenomenal kid will shine brighter than the rest and be named Child Genius 2014.

Based on the popular U.K. format, "Child Genius" is produced by Shed Media. Pam Healey ("Who Do You Think You Are?," "The Real Housewives of New York City"), John Hesling ("Atlanta Exes," "Top Gear"), Dan Snook ("Escape Club," "Apocalypse Preppers") and Laurie Girion ("Cheerleader Nation," "Showville") serve as executive producers, along with Lifetime's Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and David Hillman.
