Chris Sullivan stars in Pivot's improv comedy series "Freestyle Love Supreme."

Chris Sullivan is from Foxboro, Massachusetts and went to UMass Amherst. He has been a beatboxer, improviser, and bicycle rider for most of his life. He studied improvisation with the Upright Citizen's Brigade (UCB) Theatre, The People's Improv Theater and teachers of Chicago's Annoyance Theatre. He has performed all over the world and stuff with countless comedians and musicians, famous and otherwise.

Sullivan began his career as house band for Variety Underground back in 2002 — and it's been beats and comedy ever since. He started at the UCB interning, working crew forKilgore, vocal accompanied harold team Filth and performed in the 3-on-3 Improv Tournament. He continued on to accompany countless artists and musical comedians with beatbox and sound effects all over New York City, including Adira Amram, Cock Lorge, Carolyn Castiglia, Erin and her Cello, I Eat Pandas, Jessica Delfino, The Pearl Brunswick, Soce the Elemental Wizard, The Rob and Mark Show, Zero Boy and many others.

Becoming an original member of Freestyle Love Supreme in 2004, Sullivan has toured the world making up beats, soundscapes, and jokes — playing The Aspen Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival, and the 10th Anniversary for UK Paramount Comedy. He's worked regularly with Beatboxer Entertainment on the Hip-Hop Subway Series and performed with such greats as Doug E. Fresh, Rahzel and Biz Markie.

Sullivan has also performed in and produced ongoing shows, such as "Shockwave: The Mixtape" at Ars Nova Theater, "The 8-Track: A Seamless Blend of Comedy and Music" at The Green Room, and "The Beat" down at Mo Pitkins and The UCB.

On television, Sullivan is best known for teaching kids how to read as "Shock" on PBS's "The Electric Company." He also has appeared on NBC's "The Today Show," ESPN's "SportsNation," Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" and MTV's "The Elements" and "The How To Show."
