David Dawson stars in "Luther" on BBC America as Toby Kent, an upper-class dandy and a psychopath. Dawson previously starred in Showtime's "Secret Life of a Call Girl" as Byron.

British actor David Dawson most recently starred in "The Road to Coronation Street," a drama directed by Charles Sturridge for the BBC starring as Tony Warren opposite Jane Horrocks, Celia Imrie and Jessie Wallace. His other U.K. television appearances include "Gracie," a drama for BBC4, opposite Jane Horrocks and Tom Hollander; "The Thick of it," "Up Close and Personal" and "Damage." Dawson also appeared in "London Boulevard" with Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley.

Dawson has extensive theater experience, appearing at the Old Vic in "The Entertainer," the Royal Court in "Post" and the RSC in "Romeo and Juliet." He was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Olivier Awards 2008 for his performance of Smike in "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby," and for Best Supporting Actor at the 2010 Whatsonstage Theatregoers Choice Awards for his performance as Gethin Price in "Comedians" at the Lyric Hammersmith. In 2004, he won the Behrens Charitable Trust Award given in conjunction with the Sir Laurence Olivier Award.

Dawson is currently the voice of Vodafone on TV and radio. He was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
