David Hoflin stars in "Crossbones" on NBC as Charles Rider.

Born in Sweden and raised in Australia, David Hoflin made his first onscreen appearance when he was just nine years old in the critically acclaimed movie "A Cry in the Dark," starring Meryl Streep and Sam Neill. Hoflin then appeared in a number of smaller features, such as "Breakaway," and Australian series such as "Law of the Land" and "Good Vibrations." He became widely known in his homeland though for his breakthrough role in the hit show "Ocean Girl," in which he starred for four seasons between 1994 and 1998.

In the ensuing years, he starred in the series "Head Start" and the feature film "Swimming Upstream," opposite Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis, and continued to guest star in notable Australian series, such as "All Saints," "Blue Heelers" and "McLeod's Daughters."

In 2007, Hoflin joined the cast of the long-running soap opera "Neighbours" as Oliver Barnes. During his year on the series, he began dating his co-star, Natalie Blair, and later married her.

On U.S. television, Hoflin is known for playing the recurring roles of Tommy Madsen in FOX's "Alcatraz" and William Norburg in "Touch," opposite Kiefer Sutherland. Hoflin has also appeared in episodes of "Criminal Minds," "NCIS," "Major Crimes," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "Big Love."
