David Hyde Pierce stars in "The Good Wife" on CBS in the recurring role of a highly respected cable news legal commentator who is so disgusted by the corruption and murder rate in Chicago that he decides to run for office in order to affect change.

A veteran of the stage and screen, David Hyde Pierce's television credits include "Frasier," for which he earned four Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Dr. Niles Crane, and Norman Lear's political satire "The Powers That Be."

On Broadway, he originated the role of Brave Sir Robin in "Monty Python's Spamalot" and appeared in "Curtains," for which he won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, David Hirson's comedy "Le Bete" and "Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike," earning another Tony nomination for his starring role. He is slated to make his Broadway directorial debut in spring 2015 with Brian Hargrove and Barbara Anselmi's new musical, "It Shoulda Been You."

Pierce created roles in the off-Broadway and regional productions of Mark O'Donnell's "That's it Folks!," Richard Greenberg's "The Author's Voice" and "The Maderati," Harry Kondoleon's "Zero Positive," Jules Feiffer's "Elliot Loves" and Richard Alfieri's "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks." His other stage credits include appearances in "Hamlet" and "Much Ado" at the New York Shakespeare Festival, "Holiday" and "Camille" at the Long Wharf Theatre, "The Seagull," "Tartuffe," "Cyrano" and "Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Guthrie Theatre, and Peter Brook's production of "The Cherry Orchard" in New York, Moscow, Leningrad, and Tokyo.
