David Koechner stars in "Final Destination 5," opposite Nicholas D'Agosto and Emma Bell, as Dennis, and "A Good Old Fashioned Orgy," opposite Jason Sudeikis and Leslie Bibb, as Vic George.
David Koechner is one of the most prolific comedic actors working today. Well known to both film and television audiences, he plays a recurring role on the hit series "The Office," voices a recurring character on "American Dad!" and recently provided the voice of Gus in Greg Mottola's feature comedy "Paul,"
Koechner will next be seen on the big screen in "This Means War," directed by McG and starring Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon, as well as in several independent features, including the horror thriller "Piranha 3DD," the crime comedy "Small Apartments," and André Gordon's "Wedding Day."
David Koechner grew up in Tipton, Missouri, working for his father in the family's turkey coop manufacturing business. He studied political science at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and then transferred to the University of Missouri. After college Koechner moved to Chicago, where he studied improvisation at the IO (formerly the ImprovOlympic) with Del Close and Charna Halpern. He went on to become an ensemble member of Second City Northwest.
From there, Koechner spent one season on the cast of "Saturday Night Live" before moving to Los Angeles, where he landed guest appearances on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Reno 911" and played a recurring character on "Still Standing." He co-starred in such indie films as "Dill Scallion," "Wakin' Up in Reno," "Dropping Out" and "Run Ronnie Run," while turning in solid performances in studio comedies like "Out Cold," "My Boss' Daughter" and "A Guy Thing." Concurrently, Koechner, along with Dave "Gruber" Allen, developed and performed "The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show" on stage at Club Largo in Los Angeles, which later became a Comedy Central series.
Koechner's first major film break came when he was cast as Champ Kind in "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy." Since then he has been seen in a variety of studio and independent films, including "Daltry Calhoun" and "The Dukes of Hazzard with Johnny Knoxville," "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Waiting," "Let's Go to Prison," "Snakes on a Plane," the animated feature "Barnyard," the family film "Yours, Mine and Ours," the critically acclaimed "Thank You for Smoking," opposite Aaron Eckhart and Maria Bello, "Semi-Pro" and "Get Smart." He recently starred in the Fox Atomic comedy "The Comebacks." Koechner can be spotted in cameo roles in "The 40 Year Old Virgin," "Balls of Fury," "Reno 911!," "Miami" and "Sex Drive." More recent features include "The Perfect Game," "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard," "Tenure," "My One and Only" and "Extract."
David Koechner also recently starred in ABC's comedy "Hank" as Grady Funk. His other recent TV credits include recurring roles on NBC's "The Office" as Todd Packer and in FOX's animated comedy "American Dad!" as the voice of Dick.
