Born to an East Indian father and an Italian American mother, actress Daya Vaidya is able to play a wide mix of ethnicities on screen.
Daya Vaidya was attracted to acting from an early age, and after graduating High School she went to UCLA to study theater and dance. During her sophomore year, she was accepted into a program at the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in NYC. After spending her summer in the program, she took an extended sabbatical from UCLA in order to study at the dance studio
Since graduating, Vaidya has worked extensively in film and television. She played the role of Eva Jones on the MTV/VH1 original scripted pilot "Wifey," recurred on the UPN hit show, "All of Us" and has guest starred on over a dozen network television shows, including "NCIS," "Dexter," "Haunted" and "Two and a Half Men." She has also starred in several studio and independent films, such as "The Hit," starring Blair Underwood, and "Motives 2" with Vivica Fox and Shemar Moore.
Daya Vaidya also stars in CBS's drama pilot "The Rememberer, about a female police detective (Poppy Montgomery) who possesses the incredible ability to remember everything.
Recently, Vaidya played the challenging, intense role of Carmen Vasquez, a tough, drug addicted Puerto Rican from East Harlem, in the Indie hit "Blue." The film was an official selection at the Chicago International Film Festival. "Blue" also won Best Narrative Feature at the Hollywood Black Film Festival 2009 and the Audience Award at The American Black Film Festival 2009.
Vaidya continues to dance as well, and she is a member of the award-winning company Theatre Tribe.
