Dayo Okeniyi stars in "The Hunger Games," opposite Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, as Thresh. The role marks Okeniyi's feature film debut. On landing the part, he says, "It was pretty incredible how it happened, to be honest. I had just been introduced to my current managers, who decided to give me a shot, and believe it or not, my first audition with them was 'The Hunger Games.' I worked very hard, prepared, and did the best I could in my audition. … The day I was supposed to go in for my final test with Gary Ross, I got a call that my test had been canceled. Momentarily devastated, my managers went on to tell me that the reason it was canceled was because I had gotten the part!"

Raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Dayo Okeniyi began acting in elementary school. His father, now a retired customs officer and mother, a British literature teacher, were adamant that their children receive an education in the United States. They made the move in 2003, and Okeniyi received a Bachelor's degree of visual communications design in 2009. After college, he decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue acting.

Okeniyi has been in cast opposite Kal Penn in the ABC single-camera comedy pilot for "Prairie Dogs," about an uncool cubicle worker, aka "prairie dog," at one of the coolest companies in the world who becomes the victim of identity theft. When he discovers the thief has created a much more fulfilling life with his identity than he ever has, he engages the charismatic con-man to help him change his life.
