Dean Winters stars in CBS's "Battle Creek" as Russ Agnew.

Dean Winters recently played the recurring roles of Detective Brian Cassidy in NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Tina Fey's boyfriend, Dennis Duffy, in NBC's "30 Rock," Johnny Gavin in FX's "Rescue Me," opposite Denis Leary, and Charley Dixon in FOX's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles." He has also appeared in episodes of such series as "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Up All Night," "Life on Mars," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "CSI: Miami," "The Twilight Zone" and "Sex and the City."

Winters grew up on Long Island and spent his teenage years in Scottsdale, Arizona, where his father had been transferred for his job. The Winters family eventually moved back to New York City, while Dean was attending Colorado College. After graduating with honors from college, he spent time in Europe, where he did some modeling on the side, and Asia, as well as on the West Coast. At age 27, he moved back to New York City and tended bar all over the city with his brother Scott. Scott persuaded Dean to attend acting school in order to do something with his life. Dean enjoyed acting almost immediately. It was through one of their 17 bartending gigs that they met television producer Tom Fontana and befriended him. Tom eventually offered them work and cast Dean in his television debut in NBC's "Homicide: Life on the Street" and HBO's "Oz," in which he played a ruthless prisoner from 1997 to 2003.
