Deborah Joy Winans stars in OWN's drama series "Greenleaf" as Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee, daughter of the Bishop with a gorgeous singing voice and spunky personality that covers her deep-seeded frustration at feeling held back by her father who will not let her preach.

Growing up in the legendary gospel family, the Winans, Deborah Joy Winans received her formal training at Wayne State University, where she received her BFA, and the Moscow Art Theater school, where she earned a certificate of completion. She then graduated from the California Institute of the Arts, where she obtained her MFA in theater.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Winans quickly made a name for herself while touring the country with the Women of Faith Conference, impacting the lives of thousands of women every time she took the stage. She continues to tour, bringing her ministry through the arts to churches all around the country.
