Elle Fanning stars in "Super 8" as Alice. The sci-fi thriller is written and directed by J.J. Abrams.

Energetic, lively, and bright are just a few of the words that describe Elle Fanning, the younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning and a huge talent in her own right. Elle made her feature film debut in 2001 at the age of two when she co-starred as Young Lucy in New Line Cinema's "I Am Sam," starring Sean Penn. Since then, she has starred in more than ten films and numerous episodes of television.

"I Am Sam," she went on to star in "Daddy Day Care" opposite Eddie Murphy and "The Door in the Floor," opposite Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges. In 2005, she starred as the young Sweetie Pie Thomas in "Because of Winn-Dixie," with Cicely Tyson and Dave Matthews. In 2006, she starred in "Babel," directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Next was Touchstone's "Déjà Vu," directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington.

In 2007, Elle filmed "Reservation Road" and writer / director John August's "The Nines," In 2008, she played the young Cate Blanchett in Paramount and David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," opposite Brad Pitt.

Most recently, Elle was seen starring alongisde Stephen Dorff in Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere." The film follows a disillusioned movie star who is forced to re-examine his life when his daughter arrives for an unexpected visit. The film won the 2010 Venice Film Festival's Gold Lion Award, and was named one of the top ten independent films of the year by the National Board of Review. Elle, for her performance, was nominated for a Critics' Choice Award.

On television, Elle has appeared in "Criminal Minds," "Dirty Sexy Money," "The Lost Room" miniseries, and many more. Besides acting, her other passions include singing, dancing and writing.
