In 2003 Elle Macpherson Intimates was launched in the Gulf States, Canada and across the U.S. She is intimately involved in the creation of each collection, advertising, marketing, and strategy, and appeared in advertising until becoming Creative Director in 2002. Today Elle Macpherson Intimates is one of the most globally recognized fashion lingerie brands. Elle Macpherson The Body, focusing on bath and body products, was launched in Australia and New Zealand in 2008 and will continue to expand globally in late 2009.
Macpherson's career began in 1982 with a commercial for TAB cola that rocketed her into the modeling world as the favorite "Australian girl next door." In 1986, a Time Magazine cover story pronounced her "The Big Elle." She then appeared on a record six covers of the Sports Illustrated Annual Swimsuit Edition.
Macpherson guest starred in multiple episodes of "Friends" and film credits include Woody Allen's "Alice"; "Sirens," opposite Hugh Grant; "Batman," alongside George Clooney; "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins; and "The Mirror Has Two Faces" with Barbra Streisand.
Macpherson is the recipient of multiple awards including Fig Leaves' Entrepreneur of the Year Award (UK) 2005, Glamour's Style Icon Award (UK) 2006, Ell's International Style Icon Award (Spain) 2006, Marie Claire's Prix de la Mode 20 Years Business (UK) 2007, Everywoman Outstanding Designer Award (UK) 2007, Femmys Lingerie Designer of the Year Award (USA) 2008 and the World Career Award, (Vienna) 2009.
Macpherson's charity involvement includes European Ambassador for RED, an initiative set up by Bono and Bobby Shriver to raise money and awareness for the Global Fund to help eradicate Aids for women and children in Africa, Ambassador for UNICEF, Ambassador for the Australian children's charity Smile, which supports research into rare childhood diseases. She also supports the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood (UK), an international coalition to ensure that pregnancy and childbirth are safe for all women and newborns in every country around the world.
Macpherson currently resides in London with her family.
