Emma Slater from "Dancing with the Stars" is one of the professional dancers on the ABC ballroom competition series. She makes her debut as a pro partner in Season 17, paired with Bill Engvall. She previously danced in the troupe and choreographed for the show.

Emma Slater is from Tamworth, a medieval town in the center of England. She started dancing at the age of five when she joined a local stage school. She was immediately hooked on theater and took part in a number of local productions.

When Emma was ten she was introduced to Ballroom and Latin dance for the first time. After a while she started to compete. She went on to win many titles and was by now sponsored by Supadance and receiving training from the top teachers in the world.

Emma continued her stage and film career, appearing in George Michael's music video "Round Here," filmed on location in London. She was also seen in Lilia Kopylova's fitness video "Latinasize with Lilia." In 2005, at just 16 years old, Emma joined the cast of "Simply Ballroom," touring the UK, United Arab Emirates and South Africa, where she appeared on" SA Strictly Come Dancing." Later that year Emma and her partner won the 2005 British Under 21 Latin American Championship at Blackpool, England. Now representing England at all levels and ranked in the world's top 20, Emma followed this success by winning the 2006 United Kingdom Under 21 Latin American Championships at Bournemouth, England.

Towards the end of 2007 Emma was featured in the Universal Pictures movie "Mamma Mia!," directed by Phyllida Lloyd and starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth. Emma played one of Sophie's (Amanda Seyfried) friends and also sang on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack for the movie.

Emma then joined the cast of "Dirty Dancing" at the Aldwych Theatre in London's West End directed by James Powell. Emma was the Feature Latin Dancer and also understudied and played the principal role of Lisa Houseman.

Emma continued her experience of London's West End with the shows "Cheek to Cheek" at the Coliseum, and "Latin Fever" at The Peacock Theatre, West End and Symphony Hall Birmingham. In 2009 Emma joined "Burn the Floor," initially for the China tour 2009. However later that year Emma joined the cast at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway in New York City. In between the residency on Broadway and the world tour, Emma found time to appear on ITV1's "Popstars to Operastars" three times becoming the program ballroom advisor. At the beginning of 2010 Emma started the "Burn the Floor" world tour dates, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Florida, New Zealand, West End London, a nine-month USA multi-city tour, Belgium, Holland and UK.

In the early summer 2012 Emma continued her creative work by choreographing Usher at the prestigious 2012 Billboard American Music Awards, Live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
