"Extreme Weight Loss" Season 5, formerly known as "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition," is a unique, non-competitive reality series on ABC about weight-loss transformations that documents the unprecedented 365-day journey of courageous, "super-obese" participants.

Season 5

Season 5 will intersperse three special editions of EWL — "Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can't Weight" — throughout its run. Hosts and trainers Chris and Heidi Powell will help three couples get in shape together, both physically and emotionally, for each of their upcoming weddings. Guest-starring as each couple's "Wedding Dream-Team" are David Tutera ("David Tutera's CELEBrations") as the wedding planner; Rocco DiSpirito ("Extreme Weight Loss" Healthy Food Coach and best-selling author of "Cook Your Butt Off!") will cater the weddings; and "Duff" Goldman (owner of Charm City Cakes and Food Network star) will design the wedding decadence. In addition to working one-on-one with Chris and Heidi, each EWL participant also will spend the first ninety days of his or her weight loss journey at the renowned University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center in Aurora, Colorado. Chris and Heidi, along with CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center Medical Director and CU Associate Professor of Medicine Holly Wyatt, MD, will guide participants on their journeys to safely lose up to half their body weight.

Season 4

In each of the stand-alone episodes, the participants—whose lives have become unmanageable because of their weight—will undergo a transformation not only of their bodies, but of who they are as individuals. With the proper nourishment, exercise and guidance assured by "Extreme Weight Loss," they are afforded a fresh perspective. In addition to having participants continue to work alongside transformation specialists and trainers Chris Powell and his wife, Heidi Powell, the show is taking a unique approach in the upcoming fourth season: each participant will spend the first 90 days of the weight loss journey at the renowned University of Colorado's Anschutz Health and Wellness Center (AHWC) in Aurora, Colorado.

Chris & Heidi, with AHWC's medical director Dr. Holly Wyatt, MD and associate professor of medicine at the University of Colorado, will guide these individuals to safely lose up to half their body weight, ultimately revealing an amazing metamorphosis. The Anschutz Health and Wellness Center offers some of the country's most advanced research and science-based expertise, focusing on a comprehensive weight loss and weight-loss management approach, including fitness, nutrition and wellness services.

Season 3

The series returns for Season 3 as transformational specialist Chris Powell (author of the New York Times bestseller, "Choose to Lose," and the recently released "Choose More, Lose More for Life"), documents the amazing makeover of 15 courageous, "super obese" people who, in an unprecedented 365 days, set out to safely lose up to half of their body weight, ultimately revealing an amazing metamorphosis.

In each of the stand-alone episodes, the participants undergo a transformation not only of their bodies, but of who they are as individuals. By assuring they have the proper nourishment and exercise, Powell provides a fresh perspective to individuals whose lives have become unmanageable because of their weight. He guides each of the participants through their transformation process by moving into their homes with their families or loved ones. The upcoming season is filled with remarkable and eye-opening changes, including a married couple, and the inspiring story of an amputee who worked to shed the weight he gained after losing his limb.

"Extreme Weight Loss" is produced by Eyeworks USA with JD Roth, Todd A. Nelson, Matt Assmus and Brant Pinvidic serving as executive producers.
