Gaby Hoffmann stars in "Transparent" on Amazon Prime as Ali. On the big screen, she stars in Fox Searchlight's "Wild," opposite Reese Witherspoon.

Gaby Hoffmann was recently nominated for a 2014 Independent Spirit Award for her work in "Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus," co-starring Michael Cera. Hoffmann has recently appeared in "Veronica Mars"; HBO's acclaimed "Girls," which was created by and stars Lena Dunham; and the television series "Louie."

Hoffma n rose to prominence as a child actor, debuting in the Kevin Costner classic "Field of Dreams." She later appeared in "Uncle Buck," Nora Ephron's "This Is My Life" and "Sleepless in Seattle." Hoffmann began her transition to teenage and adult roles with the films "Now and Then," "200 Cigarettes," "You Can Count on Me," "Man Without a Face," "Volcano," and Woody Allen's "Everyone Says I Love You." Her other film credits include "Burma," "Goodbye World," "Obvious Child," "The Surrogate," "Mary," "Nate & Margaret," "Confidente," "Tzametti 13," "Life During Wartime," "Black and White," "Coming Soon," "All I Wanna Do," and "Snapped."

In 1994, Hoffmann starred in her own NBC sitcom called "Someone Like Me." Her other TV work includes the films "Freaky Friday" and "Whose Daughter is She?" as well as guest appearances in "The Good Wife," "Private Practice," and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

After graduating from Bard College in 2003, Hoffmann concentrated on a theatrt career, appearing in plays such as "Third" at the Lincoln Center, "Suburbia" on Broadway, and "24 Hour Plays," alongside Jennifer Aniston.

In 2008, Hoffmann appeared in the documentary "Chelsea on the Rocks," a tribute to the legendary Chelsea Hotel, where her mother raised her. Hoffmann's childhood at the landmarked Chelsea inspired the children's book "Gaby at the Chelsea."
