Hale Appleman stars in "The Magicians" on Syfy as Eliot.

Hale Appleman is perhaps best known for starring in the independent film "Teeth," which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize atr the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. He made his feature film debut the prior year in Chad Lowe's "Beautiful Ohio," alongside William Hurt and Rita Wilson. Other feature film credits include "Pedro," as cartoonist Judd Winick, and "Private Romeo," as Mercutio. On television, Appleman had a recurring role in NBC's "Smash."

Onstage, Appleman performed in productions of David Rabe's "Streamers" at the Roundabout Theater Company, Sarah Ruhl's "Passion Play" in New York, Clifford Odets' "Paradise Lost" at the American Repertory Theater, Michael Weller's "Moonchildren" at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, and "The Last Goodbye" at The Old Globe Theater.

Appleman graduated from the famed LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts in New York City in 2004 and attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where he studied acting. He also trained at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, a summer camp in upstate New York.
