Hugues LaLonde from "Pyros" stars in the Weather Channel reality series. He is the project manager at Groupe Fiatlux-Ampleman (GFA), one of Canada's most sought-after pyro companies. He says, "Want to make me happy? Give me something big and complicated to lead."
Hugues LaLonde has been working in pyro for over 24 years. He got his start by accident when at 17, and working at a convenience store, one of his coworkers happened to know someone working at Fiatlux and asked Hugues to help out on a show. Hugues was hooked!
Decades of experience, working in almost every aspect of the business, has given him immense knowledge but Hugues recognizes that every show is different, and differences mean challenges.
The highlight of Hugues' career was doing pyro for Paul McCartney and being at his side on stage while he was performing in Quebec City. "There's something incredible about having a member of the Beatles singing all of the classics 20 feet away from you and being able to say that you are at work!"
