Iyanla Vanzant is the host of OWN's "Iyanla Fix My Life."

Iyanla Vanzant was motherless at age 3; raped at age 9; a mother by age 16; the mother of 3 by age 21; married and beaten from age 22 to 30; a college graduate at age 34; a law school graduate at age 38; and a publishing force with 15 titles, including 5 New York Times best-sellers throughout her 40s.

Many ordinary people cannot tell tales of tragedy, struggle, strength, courage and triumph in the same way Vanzant can. Much of what she has seen, heard and lived through would have devastated the ordinary person. Through her life's experiences she has uncovered her life's purpose, discovered the power that lies within soul, recovered her cultural and her spiritual self, to emerge shining, sharing her stories, her gifts, her discoveries and her love with the world.

She says, "What I have learned from all of the difficulties in my own life is that human beings have very thick skin. I call that skin, spirit, our Highest Most Powerful self. Spirit is the key to everything we desire. It is our weather-proofing, our Teflon, our line of credit that assures if we just keep putting one foot in front of the other, one day; there will be a miraculous payoff."

Vanzant has received a Master's Degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica, two honorary degrees from City University of New York and Georgia State University, an Emmy, an NAACP Image Award, a Rosa Parks Award (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) and the keys and honorary citizenship to Five Cities. She has been hailed as one of Halle Berry's five "Sheroes" (Glamour Magazine 2006); one of the country's most influential African Americans (Ebony Magazine 2004); among the country's most 100 Influential Women (Women's Day Magazine 2003); and one of the "most dynamic speakers in the United States" (Emerge Magazine 2000).

On television, Vanzant has appeared in "Starting Over," "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "The View." On the radio, she has been heard on "The Tom Joyner Morning Show," "The Michael Baisden Show" and "The Steve Harvey Morning Show."
