J. Neilson from "Forged in Fire" is one of the judges in the History Channel reality bladesmith competition series. He is a Pennsylvania-based Mastersmith who has been making knives and edged weapons for more than twenty years.

J. Neilson has been a full-time custom knife maker since 2003 and became an American Bladesmith Society Mastersmith in 2008. He forges a large variety of fixed blade knives from bowies and kitchen knives to neck and hunting knives. He forges his blades and makes his own

damascus. All aspects of knife making is done in his shop by himself (not subcontracted or done by students), so that he has complete control of the process. He mostly works on custom orders but, he does "stock" pieces as time allows as well. Usually some kind of idea that tickled his fancy. He gets bored easily and enjoys diverse projects.
