Born in Atlanta, Jamia Simone Nash has been performing since she was 2. At age 5 she sang Michael Jackson's "Who's Loving You?" on "Showtime at the Apollo." In 2006, Nash played a young version of 2004 "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino in the Lifetime telefilm "Life is Not a Fairytale."
Nash made her feature film debut in "August Rush," in which she performed the Oscar-nominated song "Raise it Up" with the Repertory Theater of Harlem. Nash sang the song at the 80th Annual Academy Awards ceremony and became the youngest African-American to perform on the telecast to date. Nash has performed live for Aretha Franklin, John Travolta, Oprah Winfrey, the King of Jordan and the President of the United States. She has made appearances on "Half and Half," "My Wife and Kids," "7th Heaven" and "Steve Harvey's Big Time."
She resides with her parents and sister, Olivia, in Atlanta.
