Janaya French from "So You Think You Can Dance 2012" is one of the top 20 contestants in Season 9 of the FOX reality dance competition. She is 20 years old.
Janaya French currently lives in Van Nuys, California, but grew up in Aurora, Colorado. She graduated from high school in 2010 and has now moved to California to pursue her dance career. She began dancing at age 3 and is a technically trained dancer who specializes in Lyrical/Contemporary.

Do you have
a nickname?
Naya, Janaynay and the occasional Nay Nay which I hate :)
Do you have a job?
I work at Fukuburger as a server 3-4 times a week, and I also sub classes at a dance studio in Montrose, California.
Do you have any formal dance training?
Yes, I practically grew up in a dance studio so I'm technically trained in almost every genre of dance.
At what age did you first start to dance?
I started dance when I was 3 years old!
What other training/talents do you have?
I really like hairstyling, and have always done well with doing my own and others' hair. I always did my friends' hair for homecomings and prom.
What was your reaction to becoming a "So You Think You Can Dance" contestant?
I honestly still don't think it has sunk in completely! It's so weird to think that I may possibly be a part of a show that I have watched so many talented and inspiring dancers on. It literally is a dream come true and I am so proud of myself and humbled to be this far! Definitely exciting and waiting for someone to pinch me!
What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
People might be surprised to learn that I am terrified of Chucky the doll. He is my worst nightmare and my friends think it's funny to torture me with pictures and videos of him. It. Is. Awful.
What choreographer do you look forward to working with?
I look forward to working with everyone, honestly! I'm especially excited to work with any Ballroom choreographers because they are people I haven't been able to work with before.
