Jane Adams stars as Tanya on HBO's "Hung."
Jane Adams was born in Washington, D.C and raised in Wheaton, Illinois and Bellevue, Washington. Adams majored in political science at the University of Washington and took theater at the Cornish College of the Arts. In 1989, she graduated from Juilliard with a degree in drama.
After graduating, Adams performed at the Seattle Repertory Theatre. She won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for "An Inspector Calls" on Broadway.
In 1998, Adams starred in "Happiness," opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman. She and the rest of the cast won the National Board of Review Award for Best Acting by an Ensemble. She was also in the independent film, "Songcatcher," starring Academy Award nominee Janet McTeer. She and the cast won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Other feature credits include "The Brave One," starring Jodie Foster, "Little Children," starring Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connelly, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," starring Jim Carrey, "Orange County," "The Anniversary Party," starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Curtis Hanson's "Wonder Boys," and Lawrence Kasdan's "Mumford."
On NBC's hit comedy "Frasier," Jane Adams played Niles' second wife, Dr. Mel Karnofsky from 1999 to 2000. Other television credits include "In Plain Sight," "House," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," and "Carnivàle."
