Janelle Issis from "So You Think You Can Dance 2012" is one of the top 20 contestants in Season 9 of the FOX reality dance competition. She is 24 years old.
Janelle Issis has been dancing and performing since the age of 4. She is extensively trained in Belly Dancing, Jazz, and Tap and continued to study a multitude of dance styles including Hip Hop, Jazz and Modern at the University of Alabama under the direction of Professor Cornelius Carter of Alvin Ailey. For several years she has been preparing herself to step into the commercial industry by attending summer classes and events in New York and Los Angeles. She is currently living in Los Angeles, California, pursing a career in dance.

Do you have a nickname?
I am usually called Janelle, but have various nicknames from time to time (Nelly, JJ, Jalila, Jello, Janelly, Jo-Mo, etc.)
Are you in school?
I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2011.
Do you have any formal dance training?
Sixteen years of studio dancing and recitals, no technical training, at that point dancing was my hobby, I didn't know what dance really meant to me until later in life. 4 years University of Alabama dance program under Cornelius Carter of Alvin Ailey.
At what age did you start to dance?
Age 4 (Tap and Jazz) Broadway/showy studio. Between the age of 4–6 is when I became interested in Belly Dance, really starting my belly dance lessons at age 6.
What other training/talents do you have?
I am an amazing organizer. I am very good at beautician stuff (hair and makeup). I can cook anything! And it will taste good :)
What was your reaction to becoming a "So You Think You Can Dance" contestant?
I don't even know how to word my reaction. Everything was falling into place and as things became a reality it just felt crazy! I still am sooo excited and just can't stop smiling!
What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
I graduated college with a Nutrition and Dance degree. I love to go fishing!

Lacey Schwimmer or Courtney Galiano.
