Jason Parker is competing in shooting at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for the USA.

This will be Sgt. 1st Class Jason Parker's fourth-straight Olympic Games. His best finish came at the 2000 Sydney Olympics when he finished fifth in air rifle, but Parker has not since come so close to the Olympic podium. He finished eighth in air rifle in 2004 in Athens and in Beijing he finished 23rd in the same event and 22nd in the 50m rifle 3 positions event. Parker will shoot in the 50m rifle 3 positions

event at the 2012 London Games.

Parker led each round of the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event at Trials and he was on point from the opening shot. He finished with 3124.1 total points, over 15 points clear. Parker shot those scores despite the finals being delayed for nearly three hours due to heavy rain and target malfunctions.

Parker was the final athlete to qualify for the 20-shooter U.S. team and he became the seventh U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit shooter to qualify for the Olympics, meaning over one-third of Team USA's shooters in London will come from the prestigious USAMU.

Parker is peaking at a good time heading into the Olympics. The Xavier University graduate won the gold medal in the rifle 3 positions event at last year's Pan American Games, where he also won the bronze medal in the rifle prone event. Those medals followed-up championship wins for Parker in both those events at Nationals last year. He also won the gold medal in rifle 3 positions at the World Cup Milan earlier in 2012.

An Olympic medal remains elusive for Parker. He might be the best competitive shooter the average Olympic fan has never heard of. While Team USA features several accomplished shooters and is headlined by top athletes such as Kim Rhode and Matt Emmons, Parker has an equally impressive list of accomplishments, from 3 Pan American Games gold medals to 10 national championships. The only thing missing on his resume is an Olympic medal. Emmons and Parker will both shoot in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions event in London.
