Jason Ritter stars in "The Event" on NBC as Sean Walker, an unlikely hero who gets entangled in an immense government conspiracy when his would-be fiancée Leila (Sarah Roemer) mysteriously disappears during their Caribbean cruise.

Jason Ritter will next star in the independent film "The Dry Land," opposite America Ferrera, Ryan O'Nan and Melissa Leo. The film premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and recently won the prize for international premiere at the 2010 Edinburgh Film Festival.

has just completed production on "The Perfect Family," opposite Emily Deschanel and Kathleen Turner. He also recently finished filming the independent features "A Bag of Hammers," opposite Rebecca Hall, and "Morning" opposite Laura Linney and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Ritter could last be seen starring on screen in "Peter and Vandy," opposite Jess Weixler. The film premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. Ritter also starred in and co-produced "Good Dick," written and directed by Marianna Palka, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2008.

Among Ritter's other film credits are "The Education of Charlie Banks," "Our Very Own," "Happy Endings," "Freddy vs. Jason," "Mumford" and "Raise Your Voice."

Ritter recently guest-starred in a multi-episode arc on NBC's critically acclaimed "Parenthood." His other television credits include series regular roles on "The Class," as Ethan Haas, and "Joan of Arcadia," as Kevin Girardi. Ritter has also appeared in "Hack," "Law & Order" and "Law & Order: SVU," as well as a role in the movie "The Dreamer of Oz."

Ritter starred as the lead in the Lincoln Center production of Wendy Wasserstein's "Third," opposite Dianne Wiest, Charles Durning, Amy Aquino, and Gaby Hoffmann, directed by Daniel Sullivan. His additional theater credits include the off-Broadway production of Tom Donaghy's "The Beginning of August" and the role of Tim in the world premiere of Neil LaBute's play "The Distance from Here" at London's Almeida Theatre (directed by David Leveaux).



Ritter is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied at the Atlantic Theatre Company. He also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

Ritter is the son of actors Nancy Morgan and the late John Ritter and the grandson of famed film cowboy Tex Ritter. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, where he currently lives.
