Jay Karnes stars in "V" on ABC in the recurring role of Eli Cohn. He has also recently recurred on USA Network's "Burn Notice" and ABC's "Brothers & Sisters."
Jay Karnes is best known for starring as Detective Holland "Dutch" Wagenbach on FX's critically acclaimed drama series "The Shield" for all seven seasons.
Karnes is a native of Nebraska and attended the University of Kansas. He has worked extensively in regional theater, including Milwaukee Repertory, Missouri Repertory, South Coast Repertory, California Shakespeare Festival, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival, among others. He has appeared in numerous television programs and a number of films.
Playing Mercutio in a Shakespeare L.A. production of "Romeo & Juliet" led to Karnes being cast in The Matrix Theatre Company's production of "The Tavern," where he went on to appear in their productions of "The Seagull," "Dangerous Corner" and Harold Pinter's enigmatic "The Birthday Party."
On film, Karnes' credits include playing Martin Landau's son in "The Joyriders," and acting opposite Rupert Everett and Madonna in "The Next Best Thing." He has guest starred in numerous television shows including "Judging Amy," "Nash Bridges," "Ally McBeal," "Frasier," "Chicago Hope," "The Pretender," "Pensacola: Wings of Gold," "Star Trek," "Voyager," "Cold Case" and "Numb3rs."
