Joely Richardson stars in Roland Emmerich's "Anonymous," opposite Rhys Ifans and her mother Vanessa Redgrave, as a young Queen Elizabeth I, David Fincher's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," alongside Daniel Craig, and "Red Lights" with Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver.

two children, Matt and Annie. "Nip/Tuck" marked Richardson's U.S. television debut. In 2004 and 2005, she garnered back-to-back Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Drama Series as well as much critical praise for her extraordinary portrayal of a woman caught in deep emotional struggles.

Richardson is currently receiving exceptional reviews in New York for her off-Broadway performance in Michael Weller's "Side Effects" at the Lucille Lortel theater.

Born in London to actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson, Joely Richardson had acting running in her veins and performed on screen and stage from a young age. After abandoning an earlier career ambition to become a professional tennis player, Richardson made her screen acting breakthrough in Peter Greenaway's "Drowning By Numbers" (1988) and came to American audience's attention in the 1991 comedy "King Ralph."

Richardson's feature film credits also include David Hare's "Wetherby" with her mother, Vanessa Redgrave, and Judi Dench; "Shining Through" with Melanie Griffith; Stephen Poliakoff's "The Tribe" with Johnie Rhys Meyers; "Hollow Reed"; "Sister, My Sister"; Jim Brooks' "I'll Do Anything"; Walt Disney's 1"01 Dalmations"; Paramount's "Event Horizon"; "Maybe Baby" with Hugh Laurie; "Loch Ness" with Ted Danson; "The Patriot " with Mel Gibson, and "Affair of the Necklace" with Hilary Swank. Richardson's role in "Under Heaven" garnered an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

On television, Richardson has also starred in The Hallmark Channel's "Fallen Angel" with Gary Sinise, Lifetime's "Lies My Mother Told Me" with Hayden Pannetiere, and "Wallis and Edward," playing Wallis Simpson. In the UK, Richardson starred with Sean Bean in Ken Russell's "Lady Chatterley's Lover," "The Echo" with Clive Owen and "Heading Home" with Gary Oldman. Other television credits include "Day of the Triffids," with Dougray Scott for the BBC, a, Poliakoff's "The Tribe" with Jeremy Northam and Anna Friel.

Richardson began her theater career doing seasons at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Old Vic and The West End. More recently, she played the title role in "Madame Melville" at The Promenade in New York, opposite Macauley Culkin. Other theater credits include "Lady Windermere's Fan" (Peter Hall / West End), "Miss Julie" (James Rudhin / Almeida), "Macbeth," "Worlds Apart," "Every Man in His Humor," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (RSC).

Richardson divides her time between Los Angeles and London.
