Jonathan Aris stars in "The Game" on BBC America as Alan Montag.

British actor Jonathan Aris studied painting at Camberwell School of Art and attended Cambridge University before deciding to follow in the footsteps of his father as an actor and train at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

On UK television, Aris was recently seen in two series of BBC's "Sherlock" as Dr. Philip Anderson. He also notably played Sir Richard Leavis, the private secretary to the prime minister, in "The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard." In addition, he has been seen in episodes of such series as "Whitechapel," "Peep Show," "Silk," "New Tricks," "The Little House," "MI-5," "Being Human," "Ideal," "Wallander," "Merlin," "Bonekickers," "Doc Martin," "Hotel Babylon," "Broken News," "The Brief," "Heartbeat," "Relic Hunter," "Poirot," "Bob and Margaret," "As Time Goes By," "Pilgrim's Rest" and "Bugs." He has also appeared in such TV movies as "Margaret Thatcher: The Long Walk to Finchley," "Confessions of a Diary Secretary," "Beau Brummell: This Charming Man," "Riot at the Rite," "Footprints in the Snow," "The Government Inspector," "Planespotting," "Not Only But Always," "Eroica," "The Project," "The Wyvern Mystery" and "Horatio Hornblower: The Fire Ship." Moreover, he has narrated three National Geographic documentaries: "Air Emergency," "Trapped" and "Microkillers."

On the big screen, Aris has been featured in "Gulliver's Travels," starring Jack Black and Emily Blunt, Jane Campion's "Bright Star," "Flawless," starring Demi Moore and Michael Caine, "Ali G Indahouse," starring Sacha Baron Cohen, "South Kensington," alongside Rupert Everett and Sienna Miller, "Birthday Girl," opposite Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin, Mike Leigh's "Topsy-Turvy," alongside Jim Broadbent, "The Jackal," starring Bruce Willis and Richard Gere, "Metroland" with Christian Bale and Emily Watson.

On the West End stage, Aris was among the original cast of "Fame: The Musical" and "Death of a Salesman." Other theatrical credits include "The Rivals," "Biloxi Blues" and "The Importance of Being Earnest" at Salisbury Playhouse, "Mr. Peters Connections" at the Almeida, and "The Colonel Bird" at The Gate.

Aris is also a prolific voiceover artist in advertising and video games.
