Jonathan Cake stars in "Desperate Housewives" on ABC as Detective Chuck Vance. Cake joins the series in fall 2011 for its eighth and final season.

Jonathan Cake was born in West Sussex, England, and studied English literature at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University. While there, he was president of the oldest theater society, the Marlowe, and played in the famous Varsity rugby match versus Oxford in front of 70,000 people.

His first professional work was at Stratford upon Avon with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Since then Cake has played the title role in Coriolanus at Shakespeare's Globe, as well as winning a Barclays Best Actor award in Tennessee Williams' "Baby Doll" at the National Theatre. He also appeared on Broadway in Deborah Warner's acclaimed "Medea" at Lincoln Center Theatre, for which he won a Theatre World Award, and off-Broadway in new plays by Ethan Coen and Jez Butterworth.
