Joseph Millson stars in "The Last Kingdom" on BBC America as Aelfric.

British actor Joseph Millson initially came to public attention as Dr. Sam Morgan in the long-running medical drama "Peak Practice." Since then he has since appeared in a large number of films, TV series and theatrical productions.

Onstage, Millson has performed in the Royal Shakespeare Company stage production of "Much Ado About Nothing," Stephen Fry's "Cinderella" at the Old Vic Theatre, "Hamlet" at Stafford Castle, Tom Stoppard's "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" at the National Theatre, "The Fairy Queen" at Glyndebourne, "Judgment Day" at The Almeida, "The Priory" at the Royal Court Theatre, and "Macbeth" at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Other notable recent stage roles include Raoul in "Love Never Dies" and as Ben Stark in "Rocket to the Moon" at the National Theatre. Other theatrical credits include "Mill on the Floss," "Four Knights In Knaresborough," "Robert in the Clearing," "The Seagull," "Cold Meat Party," and the one-man show "The Lifted Veil," which earned him a Hamilton Deane award for Best Dramatic Presentation. In 2003, he was nominated for an Ian Charleson Award for Sir Peter Hall's "As You Like It" with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

On screen, Millson has been seen in the James Bond film "Casino Royale," the Joe Meek bio pic "Telstar" in a cameo role, the "Doctor Who" spinoff series "Sarah Jane Adventures" for the BBC, ITV's miniseries "Talk to Me," Channel 4's comedy "Campus," and in a large number of TV guest roles, including "Law & Order UK," FOX's "24: Live Another Day," Showtime's "Penny Dreadful," Channel 4's "Ghost Squad," ITV's "Midsomer Murders," "Survivors" and "Ashes to Ashes" for the BBC. In addition, Millson was a series regular in BBC's long-running medical drama "Holby City" and spent a few months in the long-running BBC soap opera "EastEnders." He also played Hanley in the award-winning "Enid," Banquo in the BBC's "Macbeth" and Lord Byron in "The Romantics."

It wasn't until the age of sixteen that Millson considered an acting career and trained at the Rose Bruford College in London. In 1996 he won the lead in his first film by Jonathan Glendening, "La Belle Dame Sans Merci." This was a short film of the poem by John Keats, and it won awards at various film festivals.
