Julia Crockett stars in "Outcast" on Cinemax as Kyle's mother, Sarah Barnes, whose apparent mental illness tainted his childhood.

Julia Crockett is a Brooklyn-based performing artist, choreographer, actor, and movement specialist. She is a graduate of New York University and trained as an actor in the Meisner Technique under Maggie Flanigan. Her exploration of movement-based performance began under the tutelage of Nathan Flower (NYU Tisch, Maggie Flanigan Studio) and Danielle Liccardo (Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers). Crockett has experience in Contact Improvisation, Michael Chekhov work, and Viewpoints.

In 2011, Crockett established Julia Crockett & Group, a company for movement-inclined artists of all backgrounds. The group is process driven and much of the work is devised by the ensemble. By founding the company, Crockett aimed to create a creative home for any type of artist wishing to explore physical performance, regardless of previous training. Julia Crockett & Group has performed at venues throughout New York City and Brooklyn, as well as San Francisco and Los Angeles. Crockett was the recipient of the 2013-2014 Leimay Black Studio Fellowship.

In 2014, Crockett played the title role in Aquila Theater Company's "A Female Philoctetes" at BAM. Other acting credits include guest appearances in "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and the web series "Patients." She was also seen in the short film "The Madness of the Day."
