Here is an interview with Katherine:

When did you first start singing?

I've been singing for as long as I can remember, it has always just been a part of me.

What role does music play in your life?

Music plays a huge role in my life. It's so important to me, it has become the only thing I ever want to do. I love gigging, writing, and everything that has to do with music. I've been through a lot in my life, and I feel like whenever people are going through hard times they like to find something that keeps them happy, and music is that for me.

What makes you unique?

Musically, what makes me unique is the way I portray emotion through my voice. I connect with people on a personal level when I sing.

Do you have a wish list of writers you'd like to write with? If so, who?

Of course, there are so many people I would love to write with! Some of them are John Paul White, Ashley Monroe, Ed Sheeran, Kacey Musgraves, Dolly Parton, and Matt Corby.

What are your top three all-time favorite songs and why?

My top three favorite songs of all-time are: "Come Over" by John Paul White because it's a song that's just simple enough to not be overbearing, but powerful enough to get me every single time. "Souls a'Fire" by Matt Corby because it has amazing lyrics, all of Matt Corby's songs have amazing lyrics, but this one has a great guitar riff, and its so blues-y and it never gets old to me. Lastly, I love "The Blowers Daughter" by Damien Rice because it's so emotional, and poetic, and if you're listening to it, you're feeling everything he's feeling. His performance of it is so raw, and personal, its amazing.

What is your strongest musical strength?

The emotion that I put into my songs, the feeling I get across while telling the story in the song is what I think my strongest musical strength is.

What is your greatest musical weakness?

I think my greatest musical weakness is that when I'm writing songs, I take them from real life so I have a hard time writing about things that aren't real to me. So if someone asks me to write a specific song, I could do it, but I would never feel as good about that song unless I could find the inspiration to pull from my own life experience.

Who are your top three favorite and most influential artists? What is it about your favorite artists that you are drawn to?

Johnny Cash, Kacey Musgraves, and John Paul White. I'm drawn to Johnny Cash because he is a legendary musician who made a huge impact on music history and he told a story with his voice like no one else I've ever heard. Im drawn to Kacey Musgraves because she writes songs that have pushed the envelope and she looks at her success as a way to change the world of music in a positive way. Her songs are thought provoking, and catchy at the same time. Finally, I'm drawn to John Paul White because of his style both in music and in life, he writes amazing songs, and is so emotional when he's singing. Also, I love his mustache.

If you had to pattern your career after another artist, who would it be and why?

I would pattern my career after Stevie Nicks because of so many reasons. She was successful as a member of a duo group, Fleetwood Mac, and as a solo performer. All of her music has meant so much, her lyrics tell stories, and you can tell what she's been through by listening to her sing. She always stuck to what she believed in, and it was always about the music for her. She was who she was, and never pretended to be anything else. Also, she has had an amazingly long career, she is still going today and I would love to be able to have a career like her.

Why do you think you should be the next "American Idol"?

I think I should be the next American Idol because I think I was born to tell a story through my voice and through my songs, and I think I have the capability to touch a lot of peoples' hearts.
