Larry Joe Campbell thrives on making people laugh, and laugh they do at the hit comedy "According to Jim," on which he plays the temperamental yet sensitive brother-in-law, Andy.

Campbell recently returned to his comedy roots by performing his one-man show, "Terry vs. The Towel Lady, " at the Second City Studio Theatre in Hollywood. "Terry," which traced the history of the somewhat lackluster outcast, showcased Campbell's versatility with a wide variety of characters and his perfect comedic timing.

Larry Joe Campbell first hit the stage when he was a junior in high school, where he performed in follies production with his parents. When it came time for college, he intended to make sports medicine his field of study, but he found himself signing up for four theatrical classes during orientation at Central Michigan University. He graduated with a BAA in theater and went on to a Masters in theater at Wayne State University.

Campbell's knack for comedy landed him with the Second City troupe in Detroit, where he was involved in a number of the stage productions, including "Greetings from Viagra Falls," "Send in the Clones" and "One Nation Undecided." He also wrote and directed "Accidental Terrorist" and "Guns and Moses" for that troupe. While he was performing with Second City in 1998, Bob Saget came out and improvised with the troupe. A week later, Saget's manager flew to Detroit to watch the group and ended up signing Campbell on the spot.

Campbell's television credits include a guest starring role on ABC's "Geena," "Suddenly Susan," "Friends" and "Stark Raving Mad." He was also a series regular on ABC's "The Trouble with Normal." Larry Joe Campbell was seen on the big screen in the film "Showtime" with Eddie Murphy and Robert De Niro, and he has also appeared in the features "One Half Gone" and "Get the Hell Out of Hamtown."

Campbell is a self proclaimed sports nut. He hasn't forgotten his Michigan roots and is still a big fan of Detroit's football and hockey teams, the Lions and the Red Wings. He and his other Detroit Second City alums have started up "The 313," an improv group which performed at The Second City in L.A.

He currently resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Peggy, and their four children, Gabriella, Nathan and twins Madelyn and Maxwell.
