Laura Leighton stars in "Pretty Little Liars" on ABC Family as Ashley Marin, a well-polished business executive who spends more time on her cell phone than she does with her daughter, Hanna.
Laura Leighton's on-screen persona as Sydney Andrews on the original "Melrose Place" in the 1990s earned her a genuine place in America's heart. As viewers grappled with their love/hate relationship with Sydney, the success of this drama became enormous. Leighton reprised her iconic role in The CW's updated version of "Melrose Place," in which she becomes the landlord of the infamous apartment complex.
In 1997, Leighton left "Melrose Place" to join "Beverly Hills, 90210" as wannabe actress Sophie Burns for a reputed salary of six-figures per episode.
After her long stint on the original "Melrose Place," Leighton continued to turn in memorable performances on such shows as "CSI: Miami," "Boston Legal," "Shark," "Law and Order: SVU," "Cupid" and "The Outer Limits," while at the same time raising a family. She also appeared in Jerry Bruckheimer's "Skin" and the series "Eyes." In addition, she lent her voice to the animated series "Duckman."
She was recently seen in the horror/thriller feature film "The Burrowers," and the television movies such as "A Deadly Encounter," Lifetime's "Love Notes," "The Burrowers," "Mending Fences," and Hallmark Channel's "Daniel's Daughter" and "Prosperos Last Stand," opposite Angie Dickinson.
Other credits include "Naked City," "The Clean and Narrow," an independent feature directed by William Katt and co-starring Jack Noseworthy, "The Sky Is Falling," and "Angels, Baby!" and "Seven Girlfriends," with Tim Daly, Olivia D'Abo, Jami Gertz and Mimi Rogers.
Born in Iowa City, Iowa, to a mid-western family, Leighton found a passion early on for the arts. Shortly after high school, she left Iowa to tour the country with the song and dance troupe Young Americans.
Leighton eventually moved on to study acting, and soon began landing television commercials. She was then cast in a guest spot on "Melrose Place." Her guest spot turned into a permanent gig, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress, an Us magazine "Entertainer of The Year" Award, and the coveted honor of hosting "Saturday Night Live."
Leighton currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and children.
