Lauren Wenger is a water polo player competing at the 2012 London Summer Olympics for the USA.

U.S. water polo player Lauren Wenger is one of the most versatile players on the squad, as she can play any position outside of goalkeeper. Her talents were on display at the 2011 Pan-Pacific Championships (11 goals), the 2010 World League Super Final (seven goals) and the 2009 Holiday Cup (three goals, eight steals, nine blocks), among other tournaments. Wenger added a goal and three assists at the Beijing Olympics, where the team finished second.

When not playing and practicing with the U.S. national team, Wenger can be found in pools across Europe; since 2006 she's played for club teams in Greece and Italy. Many of her U.S. teammates also play for clubs in the same region.

A member of the U.S. senior national team since 2005, Wenger is heavily relied upon for her goal-scoring ability. At the 2005 World Championships, where the U.S. finished second, Wenger fired home nine goals, tied for second-most on the team. Two years later, at the 2007 World Championships, 6-foot-3 all-around netted a team-leading 13 goals, including the game-winner in the gold medal match against Australia. She was named the MVP of the tournament. She helped the U.S. qualify for Beijing at the 2007 Pan American Games, where she tallied 12 goals, tied for the team lead with 2008 Olympic teammate Alison Gregorka.

Wenger had an outstanding four-year career at Southern California. In her senior season with the Women of Troy, she won the Peter J. Cutino Award, the most prestigious award in collegiate water polo, after chalking up 37 goals. Her 127 career goals rank her eighth in all-time scoring for USC. During her final three seasons at USC, the collegiate star shared time in the pool with her sister and teammate, Jana. Between graduating from USC in 2006 with a degree in policy, planning and development, and national team duty, she played for Greek club team Olympiakos for two seasons.
