Lothair Bluteau stars in "Vikings" on History Channel as Emperor Charles of France, a powerful man who views battling the Vikings as spiritual and earthly.

Canadian actor Lothair Bluteau first made his mark in the cinema by starring in Denys Arcand's feature film "Jesus of Montreal" but was previously seen in several other films, including Yves Simoneau's "Les fous de Bassan." Subsequently, the list only gets bigger with Robert LePage's "The Confessional," Bruce Beresford's "Black Robe," Mary Harron's "I Shot Andy Warhol," Sally Potter's "Orlando," Michael Di Jiacomo's "Animals with the Tollkeeper," "Bent" with Clive Owen, "Urbania," opposite Dan Futterman, and Agnieszka Holland's "Julie Walking Home," to name just a few.

On television, Bluteau has worked in all genres. He has had recurring roles in Showtime's " The Tudors" and FOX's "24" and has appeared in NBC's "Miami Vice" and "Law & Order SVU"; CBS's "NCIS: Los Angeles," "The Unit" and "Mrs. Arris"; HBO's original movie "Shot Through the Heart" and prison drama series "Oz"; and the Canadian miniseries "Race to Mars."

On stage, Bluteau performed in London's West End's "Being at Home with Claude," directed by Daniel Roussel, "Displaced Persons," directed by Bill Hart, and off-Broadway's "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui," directed by Simon McBurney.
