Marisa Ramirez stars in "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena," the prequel to the Starz drama series, "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," as Melitta. Ramirez also stars in Lifetime's series "Against the Wall."

Previously, she starred in FOX's "Mental" as Chloe Artis and in "The Young And the Restless" as Carmen Mesta, a confident and opinionated public relations expert whose arrival in Genoa City caused shake-ups at both Jabot Cosmetics and Newman Enterprises.

as the spirited supermodel Gia Campbell on "General Hospital." For her portrayal of Gia, she was nominated for a NAACP Image Award and an ALMA Award as "Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series" in 2001.

She starred in the Independent film "All Souls Day," which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2005. Prior to her big screen debut, Ramirez portrayed Evelyn Santos, an ex-cop who investigates alleged miracles, on the primetime series "Miracles," opposite Skeet Ulrich.

Ramirez began her career as a fashion model at the age of 13, but later turned her attention to acting. She landed work in several high-profile music videos, including leads in Will Smith's "Wild, Wild West," Lenny Kravitz's "American Woman," Backstreet Boys' "As Long As You Love Me" and Jordan Knight's "Give It To You." Her performances caught the eye of producers at MTV, who tapped her to co-host "Senseless Acts of Video." Her other television credits include "Roswell," "USA High," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Days of Our Lives" and "CSI: Miami."

A native of Los Angeles, California, Ramirez donates her time to many charitable causes, including animal rescue, The Women's Sports Foundation, and HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and education.
