Maude Furtado from "Pyros" stars in the Weather Channel reality series. She is the general manager at Montreal's Groupe Fiatlux-Ampleman (GFA), one of Canada's most sought-after pyro companies.

As the daughter of a Canadian pyrotechnic pioneer, Maude Furtado was born into gunpowder and grew up as a "mortar-monkey" working behind the scenes at her father's biggest shows.

Maude was eighteen when she fired her first big show. In the minutes leading up to the show, Maude's hands were shaking so

bad, she could barely start the ignition systems. When the show finally ended she passed out cold from exhaustion. She says, "The only thing I can compare the experience to is giving birth."

Since finding her career home with GFA, Maude has focused on building the company's reputation on the world stage. Her drive to win critically acclaimed competitions is so strong that she'll "blow" tens of thousands of dollars in extra explosives just for the taste of victory.

She says, "Firing my first show was like giving birth."
